Date Night

I always wish we'd have a date night together once a month but somehow, that never happens.  So when we do get the opportunity to have a night out, we tend to go all out.  Last night was no exception to that rule.

Shawn got me tickets for Phantom of the Opera at our local theatre for Christmas.  I'd seen it once before with my sister but this experience was different.  We both love the musical ... any musical actually but this one in particular.  Shawn got us tickets in the front row, which made everything feel a little more intense.  You could see the actor's expressions, hear the gun shots and smell the gun powder, feel the vibrations of the orchestra pit that we were practically on top of.  It was fantastic.

After the show, we checked into our hotel.  This is what we saw when we walked into the lobby:

This is what we saw when we looked down from our 7th floor room:

Next we headed to dinner at Japon, a local sushi restaurant that I used to frequent with my girls ... it's evolved into a special dining spot for Shawn and I.  We got a boat, but I forgot to take a picture, so you'll have to imagine one that looks a bit like the one below.   It was delicious, as usual, and we gorged ourselves silly.

When we returned from dinner, we discovered someone had been in our room!  They turned the radio to soft jazz and did this to the bed:

I'll spare you the details of what happened next... :)

The next morning, we realized we could see the mountains from our window (you might have to click on it to make it bigger ~ they are far in the distance).

We enjoyed breakfast in our room, followed by hot tea.   We forgot about the time change, so we were still in bed when our order arrived!

I love the cute little things they bring... and of course, brought them all home to share with the boys.

The view was great and I loved looking at life on the street below on a sleepy Sunday morning.

Our next date night won't likely be so extravagant but it sure was nice to feel like royalty for the day.

Now THAT is the way to do it! I'm envious, but luckily, we'll have a weekend away later this month. Glad you had such a great time!

very nice!!!

we had two nights at a hotel last week, just The Big Guy and I, and although our room wasn't as fancy (no rose petals on the bed!) we managed to enjoy it very much!

Our big date consisted of seeing Watchmen this weekend and eating at the concession stand. Heh.

How fun! Sounds like you got some awesome seats for the show. I'll have to make sure Jon reads this post to get him brainstorming for our future date nights!
