Long Labor Day Weekend

Things are finally starting to calm down here in Amy's World... We had a long weekend complete with a visit from my parents and my 3.5 year old nephew, Sam. As is customary with my family, we filled every waking moment with activity. By the end of the visit, I was pooped, but we had a really great time. We entertained the kiddos during the day and played Spades at night. We snuck in a couple dates ~ one with my parents to a local Mexican restaurant and also a comedy club (can I just say, if you EVER get the chance to see Auggie Smith, who I'd never heard of before this night, please go. He's HI~larious and I promise you'll not be disappointed!) ... one with just me and Shawn to see a documentary at a cool new theatre we recently discovered.

As usual, we took a gazillion pictures. Here are some of the fun stuff we did!

The first day we had together, my mom and I went to a doctor's appointment, lunch and to get a pedi together. Quick aside ~ Keiki are looking great! They're measuring right on pace with how far along I am, rather than big like they were last time. And the pedi? Heaven of course, but even cooler was the fact that the girl who did my toes had done Michelle Obama and Jill Biden's mani's only the day before. I was quite impressed! As well as happy to hear that they are as sweet in person as I'd always imagined they'd be.

While we were pampering ourselves, my dad and Shawn took the boys to Tiny Town, where you can do cool things like rid on a train through a little town:

And you can go in some of the buildings, too.

Next they ran over to Red Rocks, nearby, to check out the views:

Then it was off to meet me and Mom at a place we've never tried before ~ White Fence Farm. It was an interesting restaurant with some attractions like a two story slide (which we didn't get any good photos of). There was a lake outside where you could feed the ducks:

There was a cool playground there, complete with an adorable little play house that Shawn got coerced into checking out...

They had a tractor you could test out...

And a very hungry cow to feed...
The goats were hungry, too!

And my parents took the boys on a carriage ride...

The next day we went to the Colorado Railroad Museum because my nephew's favorite thing in the whole wide world is trains. And there is no better place that we've found to indulge a 3.5 year old lover of trains than this cool outdoor museum.

You can walk through many of the trains...

Or stand on the back and pretend to drive them...

You can see cool shiny red cabooses, too...

We did some birthday celebrating while my family was here. Tyler just celebrated his 7th a couple weeks ago, so we went to Amazing Jake's to have some fun. It's a nice alternative to Chuck E Cheese, with bigger rides (I don't know if I've ever seen happier kiddos):

And some classics, too... like bumper cars, skeeball, Go~Karts and even air hockey...

One morning the boys wanted pancakes. Gavin and Sammy decided they would taste better if they made them...

We also did some shopping at our favorite mall in Boulder and stopped by the Boulder Falls. I am not really in any condition to hike up there, but the boys went with Shawn and Dad and got some cool shots:

We celebrated my birthday, too ~ I turned 31!
I think I look pretty tired here ~ it was a long weekend. But we had so much fun!!
*******
Quick Tyler update: he's doing much better in school. I'm not really sure what caused the change ~ or what caused the behavior in the first place. But he seems to be more motivated to pay attention and talk only during appropriate times, so I'm feeling much better about the whole thing.
Thank you all for your support and wonderful advice. I love this bloggy community!

Fabulous weekend - and though you do look a bit worn out, you look like you are the good kind of tired.
Tiny Town would be bunches of fun - are all of these places you guys visit nearby?

Not too much longer to go with the babies...counting the days yet? Do they think that you will go until the scheduled date?

Happy 31! (I turned 33 in June...yikes!!!)

Happy Birthday. Oh, to be 31 again. You don't look as tired as you should look, considering.

Happy birthday!

You live close to my friend, Kristin! I never would have known without the Tiny Town photos, she just blogged about it last week, strangely enough!

Yay for the happy boy news!
Glad you had such a fun weekend--you sure know how to pack in the fun.
I must say, for being so pregnant, you look adorable--kind of like Kristen Dunst.
