We had a bit of a scare yesterday. I felt what I thought was fluid leaking ... er... downstairs. I was concerned about my water breaking although it was more of a trickle than anything. In 4 pregnancies (including this one, so far), my water has never broken. So I wasn't sure what to expect. What I didn't want, though, was to take any chances with the parents not being here ~ they are still in Hawaii for another week and a half! So I called the doctor, who was on his way out the door and didn't want to wait for me to run by the office for a quick check up. They sent me to the hospital. As it turned out, the water bags are still in tact... the babies have plenty of fluid... and they were so squirmy that the RN couldn't get a 20 minute read on the heart rates! A quick ultrasound shows Baby A to be transverse now and Baby B is breech. With his head firmly planted in my ribs. No wonder I am having a hard time sleeping!
It was nerve racking to think about possibly going early. I'm confident that the babies would be great ~ they should weigh around 6 lbs this week, which is a good healthy weight for twins. (although, they are not considered "full term" twins until they are 37 weeks) But I would absolutely hate to have the Makua miss the birth, so I was concerned about that. I also have some loose ends to tie up still before I'm ready to go on maternity leave.
Luckily, the lil guys decided to stay put for a bit longer and hopefully they'll cook a couple more weeks until their parents get into town! Thanks for playing along with the numbers ~ I can't wait to see who guessed the closest! I'm hoping it's not MamaGeek, though ~ she guessed 8 pounds!! Eek! ;)
