Sickos

It's been a rough couple days... Both the boys have come down with some virus that causes high fevers (well, I think 102.5 is high for a 4 year old?) and tummy aches.  Thankfully, nothing spewing out either end... knock on wood.  Gavin started it Monday and I picked him up early from school and today Tyler came home sick.  Poor little guys!  I had big plans this long weekend for swimming, thrift store treasure hunting (the stores around here are having 50% off sales on Monday!  music to my ears!), and a little celebrating as on Sunday I turn 30.  But it looks like we might be trying to recuperate.  As luck would have it, about a month ago I made a doctor's appointment for the boys to get their annual physical and shots tomorrow afternoon but I don't think they'll give them shots if they are sick.  Which they will be Ok with I'm sure!

In other news, Shawn's parents sold their house so they are packing up and moving back to Indiana.  We will once again be family-less here in CO.  It's our own fault, kind of, for moving away from everyone we know and love... but in our defense, Shawn was unable to find a job that would utilize his skillz and experience from the Army without moving out here.  Shawn's pretty hurt and feels like his parent are choosing his sister and her daughter over him and our sons.  And though that may or may not be the case, it hurts to feel that way.  Tyler burst into tears when we talked about it... he's having a real hard time with it and feels like everyone is leaving him (Mamaw & Papaw, his family that comes to visit, etc).  We had a long talk about how he and Mom and Dad and Gavin are a family and will always be together.  We have to depend on each other and that we'd never leave him.  Hopefully nothing will ever happen to one of us ~ I'd be the biggest liar ever.  Ugh.

Shawn had to go alone to Tyler's first boy scout meeting.  Now that he is in first grade he's old enough to do it.  Unfortunately he was too sick to go so Shawn had to go get the scoop.  He had a really good experience with it as a little boy so he's really excited for Tyler to try it.  Hopefully he has as good an experience as his dad did!

Have a great holiday weekend...

hope the boys feel better!

We've never lived near family, and it is hard. My parents, after my dad retired, moved to be closer to my brother and his family. But I understand, they will never move out of that area, and we can't guarantee that. My parents don't want to chase us around the country. Plus, they have other friends in the area, so it's home for them When you move away there are consequences. ;) You have to take the good with the bad.

Thrift stores at 50% off? That is MY kind of shopping!

Happy Birthday!

I am sorry to hear about Shawn's parents leaving but you will never be familyless. We will always be here for you! ;-)
I am also sorry about the sickness. Ella had a tummy ache this evening and I thought she was a little warm but I gave her some Tylenol and she was fine by bedtime. I hope she is not sick this weekend in WY. I know they haven't been together but those things still manage to get around.
Happy almost Birthday! I would love to get together to celebrate if everyone gets better quickly.
We will be home Sunday.

we've also never lived near family so i have no real way to conceptualize the benefits but i know it must be a lovely thing.

Yuck, I hope you aren't going to get sick and I also hope the boys recover quickly. You've gotta love school. It's like a giant petri (sp?) dish!

So sorry to hear about Shawn's parents moving back. It is there home too though it isn't just about his sister, right.
