I've mentioned before how much Tyler loves to read. He reads for 20 minutes each day for homework. He also reads in the morning before we get up sometimes. We are constantly picking up books for him... Our local thrift store has chapter books for less than $1.00 on Saturdays (50% off day) and we grab any Magic Treehouse or Boxcar Children books that we can find. He and Gavin got some classic books for Christmas and he's already started on "Around the World in 80 Days". We find books on Paperback Swap for him, too. He is reading several books at any given time.
Tonight we started a new nighttime routine. Instead of going to sleep at 8 o'clock, we set up a reading lamp and clock and he can stay in bed reading until 8:30. He about crapped his pants when we told him about his new special privilege. You'd think we hung the moon.

he is so handsome, and well read. That kid is a double threat!
BubTar read an entire Magic Treehouse book today. I love that he loves to read. In the summer we let him stay up late and have reading time before lights out.
What a good idea! And the fact that he enjoys it says it all.

Gotta love a kid who loves to read. Mine don't, though I have tried and tried to instill a love of reading. Kudos to your for finding a way to reward and encourage that!
Wonderful.
Let me know which Boxcar Children you need -- we have a bunch we'll be unpacking in a couple of weeks and I'd be thrilled to send them to you.
Good for him! You have great kids, and smart too!
we'll probably do the same thing for MQ soon
Shouldn't he be wearing those snazzy glasses when he reads?
I was a reading freak when I was his age.
Hannah is my big reader. Simon will read and enjoys it a bit but Hannah's the one you have to tell to put the book down and go out and play.
I am glad he loves reading. I love it too.
8:30?! it's not even dark by then!! Give him until 10. LOL. What time does he have to wake up??
