Henna for All!

I haven't seen my mama's for some time. Summer was busy and with my big ol' belly, going out for drinks on the weekends hasn't been feasible. It's always good to see them and connect and I've missed having that camaraderie with the three women that I've been close to since I've lived in Colorado these past 5 years. Last night, Ria opened her home to us for an intimate dinner and some time to catch up on life. I asked the girls if they'd like to partake in some decorating of the belly with henna... I thought it'd be fun and might bring good luck to the C~section that's 8 days away!

So on Friday the boys and I went to a local Indian grocery store to see if we could find some for my Saturday night adventure. I bought a little bit too much so we decided to decorate each other, also. The only down side with buying authentic henna versus the kit that Whole Foods used to sell is that it didn't come with any nifty patterns to use, so we had to wing it and try to be creative on our own.

Here's how Tyler turned out (you might have to click for a better view):

Gavin asked for a spider and a design...

We also did Shawn's feet...

And last night, I had three mama's working on my belly... Which of course you can't fit into just one shot.

It doesn't look this dark now ~ I wasn't sure how well it would turn out with my skin being stretched as much as it is, so this is before the paste dried and was scraped off...

And another... this is me at 37 weeks and 2 days ~ ready to burst. With 1 week and 2 days to go. I probably won't be showing any more belly shots because really, it can't get that much bigger, can it? And I'm sure you guys are tired of seeing my pasty white belly. ;)

Today I have a pedicure with some girls in the neighborhood on the agenda and I promised the boys a trip to the park. The Makua arrive tomorrow morning!! Next week will likely be a whirlwind of activity as we prepare for the birth... I will check in as I can.

Have a Happy Sunday!

Hey...neat idea!
Mama...that belly is big and ready! You still look adorable!

If you can't check in, good luck in the big day. You will be in my thoughts on the big day, and I hope all goes well without any problems for you or babies.
Once again, you totally ROCK for doing this.
