The two bags of toys that didn't seem worth selling were picked up today by a craigslister. But this workbench, which has hardly been played with at all, seemed like it might be worth $20. And I don't know about you, but I can't turn down $20.
So I drag up the workbench and placed it in our foyer to wait for a representative from it's future home to pick it up. Of course, now that it's not in the basement anymore (where it sat for over two years, mostly untouched), it has now become fascinating and wonderful to my boys.
There will be no nap taking at my house today as they bang and pound and hammer while pretending to build a house. At one point, right before I headed for the bottle of Tylenol, I remarked how annoying I found this situation. Tyler quickly agreed "I know" and then Gavin added his two cents: "sometimes workers just have to be annoying."
Oh, right. What was I thinking? And right back to pounding away they went...

Oh, but of course.
My guy would LOVE that thing, I'm thinking you could get WAY more than $20 for that in the great condition it's in (not that you have to worry about that anymore).
If I lived closer, I would have paid you more for such a fun toy!
It's amazing what a little relocation can do for a toy's desirability!
At a gift shop at the beach this weekend, I almost bought a feng-shui book about making your house a "sacred space" by clearing out the clutter. I fought a STRONG impulse to buy the book, because we have too many books already. Monday evening we went into town for ice cream and the impulse returned, strong as ever. Lucky for me, the shop was closed. I am home now, so it's no longer an issue.
"Sometimes workers just have to be annoying". LOVE IT. Hee!
And yeah...every time I go through the toys, the they-haven't-touched-it-in-a-year toy is the new great thing, suddenly. *sigh*.
Toys are ALWAYS cooler when they are on their way OUT the door.
Hey, craigslist is WAY cool. Visit my little ad - on Asheville craigslist, under 'household' services...Naturally Clean! That is me these days (my business, focusing on cleaning the green way)..which explains my limited time for blogging..sigh.
Take care!
sometimes workers just have to be annoying. i love that.
Why is it that they don't play with the toys until the toys are going away??
It's annoying. Like workers. *smile*
It's amazing how re-arranging can change your perspective! I notice it with the girls AND with me!! Just today I was talking to Aaron about moving the couches here, bringing a chair from upstairs down and a bookcase into our room---needless to say, he's not as excited about change as I am : )
ha-yes the toys that are never played with are all of the sudden hendrixs favorites when one of his little friends takes intrest in it.
I love that being annoying should be expected as a part of playing "builder"
p.s. thanks for telling me how to get here from reader...i didn't know-duh!
