Our house has been quite an icky house the past couple weeks. All four of us have had whatever Gavin brought home. Tyler definitely had it the worst. I thought everything was pretty run~of~the mill as far as flu bugs go until his legs started hurting. I have never heard of anyone having that symptom along with a 5 day low grade fever and headaches. I took him to the doctor and he couldn't find anything wrong with him.
He swore Tyler had Strep and I kept telling him that he didn't have a sore throat and I didn't think that was what it was. He didn't believe me and did a culture ~ two actually~ both came back negative. He sent me home with a prescription for an antibiotic (in case the second culture came back positive) which I never filled, and told me he thought Tyler had allergies.
The next day Tyler was starting to feel better, which typically happens when I finally break down and take him to the doctor (lil stinker!) and the next day, I got it. Just a sore throat and general icky feeling ~ nothing I can't handle. And any excuse to lay around all day reading magazines and taking naps, I am happy to have! I could so easily be a lady of leisure...
This weekend is our big cleaning weekend and we've been grocery shopping already also. Tonight I have been invited to go along with a group of girls from the neighborhood who
are getting together for Mexican food and drinks... I'm Ok with being invited just for my designated driver capabilities. :) As long as I'm feeling up to it, I think I'll tag along. I can never turn down Mexican food!
Tomorrow Ria and her family are, I believe, coming over to watch the Oscars with us. I'll try to get a video of our dogs playing together ~ it is really quite hilarious. The boys will be so spoiled ~ getting to see her girls two weeks in a row!
Oh! Another fun thing I got to do yesterday, after I had our car worked on (I was 6,000 miles overdue on the 15,000 mile maintenance. Oops), was to go pick out maternity clothes. Ria's friend owns her own business and you can check out the website here if you'd like to. She is actually not going to be selling her clothes anymore, due to wanting to spend more time with her girls, so I offered to help buy up her inventory and the things she didn't have in my size, she said she would make for me. Pretty cool! It's definitely early but it will take her a few weeks to get it all made and probably by then I'll be too big for my britches.
Tyler got invited to his first play date today ~ I got a call from a little boy in his class, T, who is bored and wanted someone to play with. We haven't done this before but I know him, from volunteering, and I think it'll go well. They live about 2 minutes away from us, in our neighborhood. He's so excited! We'll have to reciprocate and have T come over to play with Tyler in a couple weeks. Poor Gavin feels left out ~ we will have to go do something fun while Tyler is gone.
Happy Saturday!

Hey, nice to meet you - I'm here via Painted Maypole's blogroll. And I love your tagline...that's it, exactly! :)

Every time I take a sick kid to the doctor and get the PA there, I hear that they probably have allergies. They must be the weird kind of allergies that act EXACTLY LIKE COLDS AND FLU. Duh.
Oh well. Hope you feel better soon.
A doctor's visit is a surefire way to get better.
Hope your Mexican outing was delish, and that you have a good Oscars visit tonight!

Hope you're all feeling better...it's no fun to be sick!!
I just found your blog by way of Bloglines. Congratulations on your new surrogacy pregnancy. I am also a GS. I have a surroson who will be 1 next month and I am currently cycling for my second journey.
I hope your family recovers soon. My family had a case of the icks a couple of weeks ago - not fun!
Ick indeed. I think the entire blogosphere has it. Hope the family recovers soon and the Oscars don't disappoint (I so want Juno to win).
oh the ick.
so sorry.
glad to hear you're at the end of it.
