Ketchup

It's, again, been a few days and I feel like I have so much to tell you!

I finally got to volunteer in Tyler's class last week. I didn't get to stay as long as I'd hoped because the doctor's appointment I'd scheduled that morning took forever!! And to top it off, I had to get a tetanus shot (it's been more than 10 years ~ I can't believe it!)... and pardon my French but that motherf***ker hurt!!! It hurt all weekend even! I feel bad doing that to my kids now. But that's a whole other blog. Anyway, back to volunteering... all the kids were really excited to see "Tyler's Mom" (I will go by no other name to little people from now on, I'm sure). Tyler grinned from ear to ear when I walked in ~ it was really cute. His teacher had me take down the old Student of the Week bulletin board, to be replaced by Tyler's Student of the Week board the next day. I went ahead and went back in Monday afternoon to take care of it for her and write all the captions on the pictures... Though I couldn't stay long, I left promising to come back the very next Friday that I could, because as luck would have it, I'm the ONLY mother in his class that has volunteered so far. Last year there were 4~5 other ladies that went in but now that I am the only one I feel a little more obligated.

Oktoberfest was a blast! Here are some pics:

There was lots of dancing...
This is my Indiana Neighbor, Amy, dancing with Shawn:

Here is me with the boys... note the beer in one hand and the huge peanut butter cup in the other (we were sharing):

It was a beautiful day, with that bright blue sky and fluffy white clouds that I love Colorado for... until it started to get gray and it poured for about five minutes. And then it did that a couple more times. But we were not deterred! There was yummy German food everywhere ~ Brats, huge pretzels, etc, as well as German wine ~ Riesling ~ and tons of German beers! We did not have to drive, but we did have to be parents so Shawn got wasted and I was the designated parent. We listened to German music, did a little dancing, shopped at the shops in Breckenridge and played at the park quite a bit too. A good time was had by all but by the end of the day the kids were begging to go home ~ they had enough fun for one day!

Sunday I cleaned my house before going to my girlfriend's new place to help her move. She's going through a divorce and had to get her own place. We watched her get served her divorce papers, which was quite the experience. She's doing Ok, despite it all, mostly just worried about her kids and trying to figure stuff out. I'm glad I was able to be there for her, but it is not fun moving furniture up two short flights of stairs with just three girls! A good Samaritan did stop by for a little bit to help us ~ her 14ish year old neighbor ~ bless his heart. But other than that we were on our own. I think we did a pretty good job, considering, but boy was my back hurting the next day! I thought I was in shape but a mover, I am not.

This week is going well so far... Robin and I spent Monday afternoon looking at potential spaces to put our second location in! It's not going to be as close as I was hoping as there is literally no office space developed up here. Yet. Maybe 3 years down the road? I can be patient! The place we're looking instead is still much closer to my work ~ by about 10 miles ~ which I am ecstatic about. If everything falls into place, we'll be opening by the end of the year, or shortly after! It's going to be a crazy next couple months... between that and the surrogacy... and the holidays...

Which brings me to my next snippet ~ I learned how to knit last night! I was scared that I couldn't do it and I had big plans to make my own Holiday gifts this year. But it wasn't as bad as I thought and I had a great teacher. I am very close to finishing my first scarf. I'm not sure I'd want anyone to wear it because it's clear that a beginner made it. I still have to learn how to finish it. I'll show you pictures when I get it done. Now, I'll have a form of entertainment during all those pesky football games my husband must watch! And a hopefully rather inexpensive one... eBay, here I come! I'm a little behind the times, where this is concerned, as I have some very crafty friends. But better late than never, eh?

Oh, and last but not least... I have my surgery scheduled for next week to remove the polyp that has been growing in my uterus, which would pose a threat to any pregnancy that was implanted there. I'm told it is not cancer, but beyond that I'm not very informed about what it is and why it's there. All I know is it's bad and it needs to be removed... and it's getting bigger. My doctor could feel it last week where before it was only detectable by ultrasound? So... Ewww! I have named her Pollyanna and will have a "Goodbye to Pollyanna the Polyp" party the night before... because you can never have too many reasons to celebrate!

And that, my friends, is enough for one post. My mom's birthday is coming up on Friday so I'll be doing her birthday post in the next couple days. I have a feeling it'll be a long one. You have been warned! :D

Goodbye to Pollyanna for sure! And good riddance!
I am absolutely drooling reading about the Oktoberfest...I spent time in Germany as an exchange student many years ago and I can smell the Brats now and tast the beer....Mmmmmm. Sounds like a blast!

so long pollyanna. i have a fibroid that is small when not pregant and grows to the size of Dallas when pregnant. Oddly the dr.s aren't concerned.

Phew, that is a lot going on! I am glad you'll get Pollyanna taken care of. You don't want her hanging around causing problems.

It looks like you had a great weekend.

My condolences for your friend. I hope it all works out well for her.
