Holiday Homes Tour

When Jen made the suggestion to do a Holiday Homes Tour, I jumped at the chance to show off our decor. My mom was always a big Holiday decorator and I have fond memories of our home all decked out at the holidays.

We start decorating as soon as the turkey is put away and the boys have a blast digging through their ornaments and putting up the snowmen. The red and green... santas and snow men... candles and cookies... just make our home feel warm and cozy.

Here's what you'll find walking around our house.

Stockings hung by the chimney... next to the Santas that were made by my Grammy. They used to adorn the mantle at my mom's house. When she downsized, I inherited a few.

Our old artificial tree with even older ornaments.

Various stuffed animals and carousel horses from when I was a girl.

New ornaments, too.

Snowmen everywhere!

These are one of my favorites.

A wall hanging in the foyer.

We even decorate the house plants!

Happy Holidays to you and your family! I'll be back in the New Year!

Gone Sleddin'

Today was the first day of the boys' winter break. We tried to talk Shawn into playing hooky, to no avail.

The boys and I decided to spend our afternoon sledding. A friend told me about a hill near by that we could try.

With temps in the mid 40's and plenty of grass poking through the snow, I was doubtful that we'd be successful... Luckily I was wrong.

Tyler's first run.

Gavin ready to go.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such joy on this child's face!

Gavin watching Tyler go down ~ almost as much fun as going down himself.

Sometimes Gavin was a little nervous.

Headed up the stairs to give it another go.

It was more fun going head first they decided.

Gavin going head first, too.

When we were leaving, Gavin declared that it had been the best day of his life. Apparently we don't get out enough. ;)

Gavin's Letter to Santa

I just had to share...

Dear Santa,

I used to have roller skates.  Are your elves doing good?  Are your reindeer doing good?  Are you fitting down the chimney?

Love,

Gavin
